Richard A. Weinblatt
Managing Partner
   Richard A. Weinblatt is a partner in the law firm of Haley Weinblatt & Calcagni, LLP, located in Islandia, New York where he practices in the areas of elder law, wills, trusts and estates and guardianships.
   Richard received his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University Law School in 1988 from which he graduated magna cum laude. Prior to attending law school, Richard received a Master of Science Degree in Taxation from C. W. Post College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from New York Institute of Technology.
   Richard has served in many capacities for the SCBA. He is currently serving as Second Vice President. He was a member of the Board of Directors from 2006 to June 2009, Associate Dean of the Suffolk Academy of Law from 2004 to 2005, and has chaired the Tax, Elder Law and Surrogate’s Court Committees. Richard also serves as a Mediator for the Suffolk County Surrogate’s Court.
   Richard is Past Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law and Special Needs Section and a past District Delegate for the Tenth Judicial District to the Elder Law and Special Needs Section of the NYSBA.
From 2003 to 2004, Richard served as President of the Suffolk County Chapter of the Long Island Estate Planning Council. He also served as a member of the Board of Education, Smithtown, New York from 1993-2005 and President of the Board from 2000-2002.
   Richard is a former Adjunct Professor at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where he taught Federal Income Taxation, Public Benefits and Planning for the Disabled, Estate Administration and the Trusts and Estates Practice Module.
   Additionally, Richard has been a frequent lecturer for the Suffolk Academy of Law, the New York State Bar Association and various community groups on topics dealing with elder law, trusts and estates and guardianships.
A Certified Public Accountant since 1974, Richard has worked for Arthur Young & Co. and The Allen Group Inc., spending four years as Manager of Reporting and Analysis for European operations, located in Offenbach, West Germany, where he became fluent in German.

Ashley M. Valla
Attorney at Law
   Ashley is partner at Haley Weinblatt & Calcagni, LLP located in Islandia, New York. She practices in the areas of elder law, including Medicaid planning, estate planning, guardianships and estate administration. Ashley is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law and Special Needs Section, the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Elder Law and Estate Planning Committee (currently serving as a CoChair) and Surrogate’s Court Committees, as well as the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association (currently serving as a Director). Ashley is a past Director of the Suffolk County Bar Association, past Officer and Treasurer of the Suffolk Academy of Law and past Vice President of Programs of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association.
   Ashley has coordinated and presented at programs for the New York State Bar Association, Suffolk County Bar Association and Suffolk Academy of Law on the topics of Advance Directives, Estate Planning, Medicaid Planning, Estate Administration, Guardianships and Part 36 of the Rules of the Chief Judge training courses.
   She is a qualified mediator pursuant to Part 146 of the Rules of the Chief Administrative Judge and is currently serving on the roster for the Suffolk County Surrogate’s Court. Ashley has served as Court appointed Counsel, Court Evaluator and Guardian in numerous proceedings under Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law in the Supreme Court, Suffolk County, as well as Court appointed Guardian ad Litem in matters before both the Suffolk County Surrogate’s Court and Suffolk County Supreme Court.
   Ashley graduated, cum laude, from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2017. She also graduated, cum laude, from SUNY Stony Brook and SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology.

Lauren DeVito
Attorney at Law
   Lauren DeVito is an associate in the law firm of Haley Weinblatt & Calcagni, LLP located in Islandia, New York. She practices primarily in the areas of Elder Law and Trusts and Estates.     Lauren received her Juris Doctor degree from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2023. Lauren is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association.
   Lauren is a member of the Surrogate’s Court Committee, the Elder Law Committee and a member of the Healthy Lawyer’s Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association as well as a member of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section of the New York State Bar Association.
   Lauren has served as Court Appointed Guardian ad Litem before the Suffolk County Surrogate's Court. She has been a presenter of CLE course materials for the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Healthy Lawyer’s.
     Lauren is also a member of the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce.
